FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions about the Faithful to the Finish capital campaign.

What is 'Faithful to the Finish'?

Faithful to the Finish is a debt retirement capital campaign starting in January 2025 and concluding in May 2025 with commitments given over three years to raise/pledge the $1 million needed to retire the building loan.

Without this debt retirement, our current mortgage will refinance in May 2026 with a 2-4% interest rate increase which will result in a substantial impact on our monthly payments.

We are asking you to join us in finishing the project which was started in 2016 as we seek to retire our debt.

Why do we need to retire the debt from the 2020 mortgage?

Highland has a commercial loan which operates different from a residential home loan.

A traditional home loan has a 30-year fixed interest rate but a commercial building loan has a 5-year fixed rate. This requires us to refinance every five years.

Because interest rates have increased since 2020, our interest rate is expected to increase which will affect our monthly loan payment.

We are seeking to retire the debt of the church building so we can focus on ministry needs and not on a high loan payment.

What if we raise less than our goal of $1 Million before we refinance in 2026?

The gifts given will pay down the principal of the mortgage which will result in less interest owed on the refinanced mortgage. Although we will still have a mortgage, we will pay less in overall interest on the facility.

How much should my family commit to give?

First, shower your commitment decision in prayer and ask the Lord to lead you in this decision. Ask yourself: what has God given you to steward over, and how does He want you to use it?

Remember that meeting our goal will take all of us, not just those who can commit large monetary gifts. Whether we give big or small...it takes all of us!

Is my commitment really confidential?

Your commitment will be handled in the same confidential way as regular giving. The only people who see and track financial giving at Highland are the Executive Director (Cary Linder) and Finance Secretary (Julie Borg).

When we pay off the debt, then what?

Once we pay off the mortgage, all of the funds that have been previously allocated for the monthly mortgage payments will be allocated to other areas of church ministry at the discretion of the church leadership.

Who can I contact if I have questions?
